National characteristics of Israel

Saturday in Israel is the traditional day of rest. It begins on Friday at sunset and ends the next day after sunset. On Saturdays and holidays the public transport in the country is not serviced. The only exceptions are taxi.
Religious taboos do not allow Jews to eat pork, hare, crabs and other seafood. Locals almost never drink spirits. The most popular wine.
When visiting the Holy places in the country tourists should cover up bare shoulders and legs. When visiting the synagogues and neighborhoods of Orthodox Jews it is advisable to wear a head covering - a kippah.
